In a shock announcement on 20 May, Qld Health Minister Lawrence Sprinborg slashed over $2.5 million in grants from the Queensland Association for Health Communties - Queensland's only LGBT health and wellbeing organisation and an AFAO member.

On May 30, delegates at the National Gay Men's HIV Health Promotion Conference unanimously passed a Resolution on the breakdown of the Queensland HIV Partnership Response.

New from the Policy team

The Policy & Communications Team has had a few busy months developing a number of submissions including: the National Human Rights Action Plan (exposure draft) and the Draft National Tobacco Strategy. You can see all our submissions in the AFAO Library.

The Communiqué endorsed at the AFAO/NAPWA HIV, Criminal Law & Public Health Forum in September 2011 and the 2012-13 Federal Budget Briefing are now also online.

 

Report on the international grants program

One person makes a difference: World AID Day march in PNG

This booklet reports on the activities of the AFAO International Small Grants Program. To date the program has supported 32 projects in several countries, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region, and more specifically on South East Asia and Papua New Guinea. Download Report
