@AlboumSays Tweet, Tweet

We’ve all heard the buzz about Twitter and the importance of integrating social media into our marketing strategies. But Twitter is so much more than a medium to gain brand recognition. It’s the opportunity to engage the community you serve and supporters in real-time conversations. Nonprofits are using Twitter to educate the public about their cause, recruit volunteers, and raise some major bucks. And like most trends involving the World Wide Web, global user participation is increasing at lightning speed.

Over the last year, nearly 93 million Internet users visited Twitter.com, an increase of about 109% from 2010. Reports show massive usage increases in the five major global regions, but even more remarkably in Brazil, Japan, Spain, and Indonesia. The company itself has responded to this growth by making Twitter available in many languages including French, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. While the site itself is translated, user tweets are not.

Here at Alboum, we believe the availability of Twitter to non-English speakers creates an opportunity for our clients to become social media pioneers in the international twitter-verse. Is your organization exploring the idea of social media translation? We’d love to hear from you to discuss the challenges of monitoring real-time multilingual tweets, engaging a multilingual audience, and how we can best utilize our expertise in the area to serve our clients' growing communications needs. If interested, please email Stephanie@Alboum.com to set up a conference call.

Sandra's Get Fit Campaign!

Have you seen this? It’s a treadmill. It’s a desk. It’s a TreadDesk ! And it’s how the boss is giving ergonomic office chairs a run (rather, walk) for their money! After months of waiting for her brand new TreadDesk to arrive from Japan (delayed due to the tsunami), Sandra couldn’t wait to get it set up and we must admit, she’s been a devoted user, walking on average 3.5 miles per workday. In just the last week, she’s spent 1190 minutes going nowhere. But will Sandra’s quest to find the cure for her sedentary desk job lose its steam? Place your bets now! Visit us on Facebook and tell us how many miles you think Sandra will walk during the month of July for your chance to win $25 in Starbucks gift cards!
