April 2020OSM renews Technical Steering Committee Release EIGHT DevelopmentSmooth transition of leadership helps facilitate momentum in development The OSM governance structure is made up of a Leadership Group, an End User Advisory Group, a Technical Steering Committee, Module Development Groups and various Task Forces. The OSM development community has been flourishing under the leadership of the Technical Steering Committee, which is renewed after every major release, since the inception of the open source community. And as in every community that is based on skilled and dedicated volunteers and meritocracy, that spurs an opportunity for new perspectives to be brought into the community and encourage new directions as a result of the new elected leadership. Recently OSM has had to say 'thank you' and 'good bye' to several key leaders such as Vanessa Little, who was OSM TSC Chair for the last two years. In her place we are proud to announce that Jose Miguel Guzman of Whitestack was elected as TSC Chair for the upcoming two years and Francisco Rodriquez of Indra was voted on to the TSC. The TSC composition for Release EIGHT is therefore:
Release EIGHT also brings new leadership for some Module Development Groups, such as David Garcia (Canonical) taking the lead of N2VC and Subhankar Pal (Altran) who will be leading the Service Assurance group. It includes: Part 2: Running cloud-native Network Services with OSM Release SEVEN. OSM hosts its first ever "remote" Hackfest in February including Ecosystem DayDue to the COVID-19 situation, ETSI OSM opted for reorganizing its Hackfest, originally planned as a physical event in Madrid from 9 to 13 March 2020, as a fully remote event. What originally seemed a huge challenge due to the hands-on approach and the high level of interaction required in a Hackfest, proved possible in a record time thanks to the outstanding engagement of the OSM community and the means provided by ETSI, making this Hackfest one of the best attended ever. The 4 days of Hackfest were run in parallel with the OSM Mid-Release EIGHT meeting and the OSM Ecosystem Day, also held remotely.
All of the Hackfest and Ecosystem Day material, presentations and artifacts are available on the OSM wiki, and the recordings of the sessions are available on the OSM YouTube channel.
Don't miss the OSM #9 fully remote Hackfest 1-5 June 2020OSM is now getting ready for Release EIGHT annoucement, Release NINE cycle kick-off and OSM Hackfest to be held this spring. Once again, the OSM#9 meeting and hackfest will be held fully remote. The Hackfest is open to all and free to attend. If you want to join, register on our website. OSM in action
