Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the January 2017 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate.

Below find a few key points provided by our Chief Economist, Michel Uhrich:

  • Domestic tax paid beer shipments grew by 2% in January on one more selling day compared to 2016.
  • On a selling-day adjusted basis, shipments decreased by 2.6% versus January 2016.
  • Domestic shipments are down 0.5% over the last 12 months ending in January.
  • January’s shipment trend was negatively influenced by relatively high distributor inventory levels at the end of December.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael at either 202-737-2337 or muhrich@beerinstitute.org.
