The case for Indigenous ownership of Trans Mountain

Pipeline politics have become a hugely divisive issue in Canada, pitting First Nations and environmentalists against politicians and corporations. Today in The Conversation Canada, Harrie Vredenburg, a sustainability professor at the University of Calgary, and Delbert Wapass, a former chief of the Thunderchild First Nation, have joined forces to argue that the Indigenous-led initiative to acquire partial ownership of the Trans Mountain pipeline could be a step towards reconciliation.

The film Dead Poet’s Society turns 20 this year. And just like in the movies, the rapport between teachers and students has a lasting impact on learning, according to Lenin Cavalcanti Brito Guerra of the University of Saskatchewan.

Just because parents are anti-vaxxers doesn’t mean their children are. Timothy Caulfield of the University of Alberta explains how adolescents can take matters into their own hands when it comes to getting vaccinated because they don’t require parental consent past the age of 14 – and sometimes younger.

Finally, do you feel your age? I know I don’t. And apparently I'm not the only one. Lisa Carver of Queen’s University explains that most older adults feel at least 20 years younger than they are, and outlines the implications for those who run seniors centres.
