2017 Volunteen Recap! No Images? Click here This summer, St. Jude welcomed 32 new teens as well as 10 returning teens for our 2017 Volunteen program! The Volunteens provided fun-filled activities for our patients and siblings each day, explored health and research related careers and gained an understanding of and built a connection to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2017 the Volunteens:
“I received way more education about nursing than I knew before. I feel more prepared for my nursing career” “The Volunteen program showed me how love and generosity can make such a big difference in someone’s day or life.” “I got to be on the other side of the smile and I got to be the reason for someone's smile.” “I loved doing the patient events. Seeing the kids’ faces and knowing I was making an impact felt heartwarming.” “I learned that pursuing a career in medicine doesn't have to just include seeing patients in a clinical environment. Being a Volunteen has really opened my eyes to the research aspect of medicine, something I am becoming more and more interested in." The Volunteens and Volunteer Services office wanted to thank the following departments for their time and service! You made a huge impact on our teens and we are so appreciative.
