What are your plans for 2016?

Another year rolls around and again we are asking ourselves 'What will this year bring?'

For us a Volunteering Tasmania, we are looking forward to building on the foundations of last year, and bringing many of our great new and improved services to more of you out in the sector.

For example:

You can read more about these things below, but as always, we invite you to contact us to discuss how we might help you as a volunteer, or a manager of volunteers, to reach your goals this year.

Emergency Volunteering

EV CREW (Emergency Volunteering Community Response to Extreme Weather)

Volunteering Tasmania is thrilled to implement Emergency Volunteering CREW (Community Response to Extreme Weather).  The custom-made volunteer management system EV CREW matches volunteers’ skills, availability and location, with the needs of organisations delivering recovery activities after an emergency.

Both organisations and inviduals can register, and we encourage you to do so now, so we can start matching people as soon as the need arises.

Tasmanian Volunteering Awards 2016 - sponsored by MyState

Nominations are now open for the Tasmanian Volunteering Awards!

These awards, sponsored by MyState and supported by the State Government, aim to recognise and reward the contribution of those who exhibit excellence in the volunteering sector.

Member Feature - Community Care NESB

The Community Care NESB Community Visitors Scheme provides meaningful visits to people in the community in aged care homes.

Residents have lead full and fascinating lives, and love having someone to share their stories and have a conversation with, or even a visitor to just keep them company.

Volunteer visitors are matched with someone suited to them, and visit generally for about an hour around twice a month.

The scheme is now taking applications for new volunteers.

Go to Volunteer Connect and search for the keyword 'NESB' to find out more about Community Visitor vacancies in your area.

Read what the current volunteers think about the program here.

2016 National Volunteering Conference

The 2016 National Volunteering Conference (6 – 8 April 2016, National Convention Centre Canberra) is the principal Australian forum for not for profit leaders, volunteer managers, policy contributors and corporates to come together to build knowledge, innovation, networks and leadership to advance volunteering. The Conference is proudly supported by Beyond Bank Australia.

Early bird registrations for the conference close on 22nd January 2016.  Don’t miss out! For more information: www.2016nationalvolunteeringconference.com.au
