Meeting Reminder - Thursday, November 14th!

REMINDER:  Our monthly meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th!

Alex Snitker  from the Liberty Empowerment Institute will be giving a power point presentaton on "The Neighborhood Project".

The Liberty Empowerment Institute was formed to empower the individual with the tools needed to influence the vote in their precinct. This will enable us to restore honest representation to the state of Florida. Our goal is to replace politicians with principled citizen legislators and set up a liberty structure throughout the state based on principle and not a political party.

A precinct is the smallest geographic, political area that is utilized to win elections. Our plan focuses on empowering individuals in their own neighborhoods to influence the vote. We will show you how two individuals took ownership of their precincts and walked door to door and WON…I hope you didn’t miss that…2 people took responsibility, not 200, just 2..

We want to train you on a step by step plan to make this happen in your neighborhood.  We want to empower you to influence the vote along with the other liberty-minded individuals who reside in your precinct. Your meetings with your neighbors, will only be held when they are needed. This gives you the ability to live your life and be able to focus on what’s important. This is how we will be able to influence the direction of our republic and restore it back to its constitutional roots.

This should be a very informative meeting!  Adrian Wyllie will also be there - Adrian is running for the office of Governor in 2014.  He is gaining momentum in the state and has some great ideas to get Florida back to what it should be.

We will also have copies of the American Patriot Newspaper, raffle tickets for our current fundraiser, other pertinent information on things going on in our counties, state, and federal government.  This is a great way to catch up with things going on and interact with like-minded people in our area.  Please invite a friend and come out this Thursday!

We meet at the Taylor Building, 128 SW Birley Ave. (corner of U.S. 90 and Birley) approx. 3 miles west of the I-75 interchange in Lake City.  Please invite a friend to attend with you - it takes all of us working together to make the needed changes in our local, state and federal governments!  For more information call John (386) 935-1705 or Sharon (386) 935-0821!

Attn: Suwannee County Residents

Suwannee County has been developing a Catalyst Site for several years in an effort to attract industry to this area.  Many millions in tax dollars have been spent in this endeavor.  Now there is a concentrated effort to try to greatly control what is coming to this site.  A small, but very vocal group has been coming to the Commission meetings and trying to put their will on all of the Suwannee County residents.  The recent uproar over the “possibility” of a Bio Waste Incinerator coming to Suwannee County has led to recent calls for draconian changes to our Comprehensive Plan via our Land Development Regulations.   To give you an example of what the group who is behind this would like to see added to the regulations, this is an excerpt from an addition they would like added to LDR’s under the section “Prohibited Uses and Structures”:
“Any other uses or structures not specifically, provisionally, or by reasonable implication permitted herein.  Any use which is potentially dangerous, noxious, or offensive to neighboring uses in the district or to those who pass on public ways by reason of smoke, odor, noise, glare, fumes, gas, vibration, threat of fire or explosion, emission of particulate matter, interference with radio or television reception, radiation, or likely for other reasons to be incompatible with the character of the district.”

I ask everyone to read this one clause very carefully and decide whether or not any industry that might be interested in our Catalyst Site would be able to meet these restrictions!  Any industries that come will be heavily regulated by our own safeguards, the Florida DEP, the EPA, etc. etc.  If memory serves me correctly, all of these safeguards have been put into place because environmental groups have lobbied extensively for them but now it seems that they don’t think the regulations can protect us!  Many people have been adversely affected by regulations that go way beyond “protection” and step all over our constitutionally-protected rights.  Those of us who have studied the issue realize than many of the suggestions that this group is promoting come from the Agenda 21 - Sustainable Development initiative.   There has to be a balance in situations like this!  We are all concerned about our environment, but realize that there is a balance between our environment and growth.  We will try to have more information on this issue at our meeting on the 14th.  Please do some research and let your County Commissioner know how you feel on this subject.   They meet at 6 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at the Judicial Annex Building in Live Oak.   Please try to attend these meetings and let your "voice of reason" be heard!

I have written a lettter to the Editor of the Suwannee Democrat addressing this issue.  It will appear as a "guest commentary" in Friday's edition.  Please pick up a copy of the paper if you are interested in reading this.

Don't Forget!!!

**PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ENDEAVOR!!**

We are doing one more fundraising event before the end of the year!  We are selling raffle tickets for a $500 Visa Gift Card.  This will come in very handy for the holidays.  If you can help our group raise some money by selling some raffle tickets, please let me know at either 386-935-0821 or shiggins@windstream.net.  If you know of any business that will allow us to put a sign and some tickets in their place, please let us know.

Some of the things we use our money for:

Printing the American Patriot News twice a month and distributing it in Lake City, Live Oak, Ft. White, and Branford.  This newspaper is full of great articles that won't be found in local newspapers.  It is a great way to reach people who may not know about our efforts. It is published in Perry twice a month and distributed in 28 Florida counties as well as several states.  As our circulation grows, so do our expenses associated with this - right now we are putting out at least 1,300 papers in our area.

We are sending $100 a month to Liberty First Network.  These men (Paul Henry and John Hallman) are doing their best to help us keep up with what is going on in Tallahassee.  They are our eyes and ears when we can't be there.  Many times we are focused on what is going on in Washington D.C. and forget what they are doing to us in Tallahassee!

Rent for the Taylor Building - Jackie Taylor lets us use the building at a very reasonable rate each month and we greatly appreciate it!

This year we purchased Constitutions to give to 8th grade Civics students in Columbia and Suwannee Counties.  We would like to do this each year for distribution on Constitution Day.

And...there are always miscellaneous expenses.  Please help us by donating at our meetings and selling some raffle tickets

The drawing will be held at our December 12th meeting so we don't have a lot of time to sell a lot of tickets!!  : )
