Thank you for participating in the Continuous Improvement Fund's Benchmarking & Assessing course. We hope you found the in-class session useful and appreciate your input - both now and over the coming weeks toward fine-tuning this course.

The final component of the course is an assignment. The assignment requires you to complete a Benchmarking & Assessing exercise for your municipality. The assignment will be managed in two steps.

Step One: Choose your Teleconference Dates
To support participants in the completion of their assignment, instructors will conduct a series of teleconferences.

Benchmarking Session
The first teleconference is the Benchmarking Coaching session.  During the call the instructors will talk about how to approach the assignment. The instructors will review the templates and evaluation criteria. Participants will be able to ask questions and address concerns, and the instructors will provide feedback on the draft Benchmarking submissions.

Call prep: Please complete a first draft of the Benchmarking template by the selected date.

Identifying and Prioritizing & Evaluating Sessions
The subsequent teleconferences will be a series of "progress update" sessions. These will provide participants with the support they need to move through the various stages of the assignment.  Questions and concerns arising from ongoing work will be addressed during each call.

Call prep: Please complete a first draft of the Identify and the Prioritize & Evaluate templates by the selected dates.

Step Two:  Accessing Course Templates
For ease of reference, electronic copies of all the templates are being made available for you.

Before Friday, November 15, 4:30 p.m., please click on the link below.  It will take you to a website where you will initiate your participant file by answering a series of questions. It will also coordinate the teleconferences and provide access to the course templates.

Benchmarking & Assessing participant file & course templates

Once registered for your coaching sessions, you will receive an automatic email response confirming the dates and times that you selected. The email will contain a link to the course templates.

Important Dates
Key dates and times are shown at right.

There will be three coaching sessions. You can select the best of two dates for each session. The coaching sessions will be offered via teleconference, and the teleconference number and passcode will be in the email response you receive confirming the dates and times you have selected. Each call will take between 30 minutes and an hour.

The sessions are designed to help you complete the assignment in an efficient and timely manner. They also encourage and facilitate ongoing networking between municipalities.  Please contact me if you have any trouble with the scheduling.

Each participant has 8 weeks to complete the assignment, which is due on Wednesday, January 24, 2014 at 4 p.m. You will be asked to submit some of your work in draft prior to the coaching sessions. This will help the instructors to assess progress against the timelines, and determine where additional instruction is needed to clarify instructions and support each participant in completing their assignment.

If you have any other questions or comments, please be sure to contact me.

Good luck!

Carrie.
