Click here Barnard College Update - Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017Dear Claremont resident: With the exception of a few lost workdays because of the recent snow and wind, we are moving along quite well with the construction of the teaching and learning center’s superstructure. We also began constructing the outside hoist located on the tower portion (northern end of the site) of the building on the Claremont Avenue side of the site. This hoist - which right now is simply a slim silver column - will ultimately look like an elevator with a car that transports staff and materials to the higher floors of the tower. With the addition of the hoist near the northern construction gate, steel and other construction materials are being delivered further south on Claremont, closer to the southern gate. We will continue to have flag people on hand to help direct traffic during these deliveries. Last week, the beam that was signed by our community back in early January was erected within the superstructure. The beam is part of the second floor steel framing that will support the East Library Seating Area. See a few photos below. Schedule We are adding a half hour onto the Saturday shift now that the days are growing longer and we can get in a little more work. Otherwise, the schedule continues to be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Questions?
