A very Happy New Year from all of us at Speaking Out! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a wonderful beginning to 2017. We have hit the ground running after a restful break, and we're ready to jump into the year.

 

Speaker Spotlight: NAKKIAH LUI

Fresh from a sell - out season at The Malthouse Theatre with her original comedy, Blaque Showgirls, Nakkiah Lui is a woman in high demand. 

A writer/actor and Gamillario/Torres Strait Islander woman, Nakkiah a co- writer/star of Black Comedy ABC and is a monthly columnist for The Australian Womens Weekly Online. She has been an artist in residence at Griffin Theatre Company (2013) and was playwright in residence at Belvoir from 2012 – 2014. Read more...

Speaking Out would like to send a belated congratulations to the Melbourne Festival for winning the Melbourne Award for Contribution to Profile by a Community Organisation. It seems fitting that the festival's Artistic Director, Jonathan Holloway, is one of our featured speakers this month, with his featured topic Giant Thinking being highly appropriate.
