Celebrating a New Harvest in Navajoland
|
|
|
The Dine' – the “Navajo” – celebrate the new year in October. And this year there is much to celebrate: a harvest, pressed down and overflowing, of new and generous support for The Episcopal Church in Navajoland.
Since last October, with the steadfast help of the The Episcopal Church's Development Office:
-
We initiated regular, bi-annual, substantive newsletters to an ever-growing audience.
-
We launched an Annual Appeal.
-
We repaired broken utilities and refurbished unused properties that now bring in operating revenue.
-
We welcomed 300 visitors to our June Convocation: nine bishops, members of Executive Council, Missionary Society staff, friends from across the Communion.
-
We have a new website, www.navajoland.org, and a crowd-funding site, www.navajoland.org/build-a-hogan.html.
-
We have begun to build hogans for educational, ceremonial, and spiritual purposes in the three states that form the Area Mission: Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.
