Hi there!

At the Jack Petchey Foundation we're pedalling hard through the winter weather to stay warm and keep up our support for young people throughout London and Essex!

We've been following the recent flurry of Speak Out Challenge regional finals and Panathlon events closely. A big well done to all those who have already competed and good luck to those yet to play their part. In this newsletter, we reveal which teams will battle it out in the Panathlon London Final. You can also order your Speak Out 2013 Grand Final tickets below...

Aside from this, check out two of our newest partnerships with the Media Trust and Future First; both great organisations. We're proud to be working with both of them.

Our 2013 Funding Priorities are confirmed, and we also shine the light on our Educational Visits programme. Follow the links under "Announcements" for details.

And finally, we hope you like our new-look logo!

Happy reading from all at the Jack Petchey Foundation

Future First... An alumni community for every school and college!

Future First logo

Private schools have always kept in touch with their ex-students (or alumni) but state schools rarely do. Why? Many of us have fond memories of our schools and would like to stay in touch - and for schools, an alumni community is full of potential role models for its current students.

Future First's Networks programme is designed to help state schools build an alumni network, simply and inexpensively. For 2013, the Jack Petchey Foundation has teamed up with Future First and is offering a subsidy of 50% for the total price of the programme for schools running our Achievement Award Scheme.

Media Trust partnership celebrated

Through our partnership with the Media Trust, over 100 young people have been matched with professional media mentors in the last year. With support, the young 'mentees' have had work published and gained valuable experience in film, photography and journalism to help them break into the media industry.

On 7 March 2013, we gathered at Channel 4's headquarters to celebrate their successes so far.

New-look logo for the Foundation!

Ladies and gentlemen, we proudly present our new-look logo! You'll be pleased to see we've kept our trusty friend, the running man, at the heart of our 'refreshed brand'. Why the change you ask? Well, our old logo referenced 1999 and we felt it looked a bit outdated. The new logo sums up our vision: to inspire, motivate and help young people to achieve.

We're asking all organisations which receive funding from us to update the logo on websites immediately, and to phase in the new logo on print materials by the beginning of 2014.

Our Featured Award Winner Is...

Jacob Bondzie!

Meet Jacob, the young man from Barnet who has Jack Petchey Foundation connections all over the place!

Aside from his Gleek-y tendencies, Jacob is a talented public speaker. He's also had the pleasure of meeting our patron and founder, Jack Petchey CBE. Click below to read more - and watch his speech from the Speak Out Challenge 2012 Grand Final.

What Next? Thinking about the future!

At the Foundation we know that with headlines talking about unemployment and an almost infinite number of possible pathways, thinking about your future can feel a bit daunting. Remember though that life is only what you make it. Have the courage to grab the future by the collar, look it firmly in the eye and set yourself on course to do something positive after the exams are over!

We've put together a series of resources on our website to help you in thinking forward. From career advice to work experience, have a read... Remember, if you think you can, you can!
