What's New?
Houseguest Presents Libby Werbel and Portland Museum of Modern Art with PICA as part of the Time Based Art Festival

Werbel will install Portland Museum of Modern Art (PMOMA), a weekend-long, build-it-ourselves outdoor modern art museum. The installation will be on display Saturday & Sunday, September 10th & 11th, 11:00am – 7:00pm with a performance series on Saturday and Sunday starting at 1:00pm.

Through PMOMA, Werbel orchestrates an exhibition in the heart of the city, inviting an impressive roster of visual and performance artists to engage with the space. PMOMA is an investigative project focused on the lack of major contemporary and modern art institutions within a growing metropolis. For a full line-up of performances, click here.

Houseguest is a new residency program hosted at Pioneer Courthouse Square. It is an experiment in site-specificity, collaboration, and participatory public art. In 2016 and 2017, Houseguest will host four artist residencies to engage the space, the public, and relevant Portland issues through participatory practices. Houseguest is made possible through the generous support of Oregon Community Foundation, The Miller Family Foundation, and Pioneer Courthouse Square, Inc.

Did You Know?
Parks Replacement Bond Renovations

Come learn about the upcoming Parks Replacement Bond renovations at a public open house on Monday, September 26th at the Portland Farmers Market at the Square. Look for the Pioneer Courthouse Square tents from 11:30am-2:00pm, and get information about bond-funded renovations, the project timeline, and the public art pieces at the Square.

In 2014, the Portland community voted to support the Parks Replacement Bond, a measure to issue up to $68 million in general obligation bonds. The money from the bond will pay for the capital costs of repairs and improvements to existing park facilities. Bond outreach identified strong community support for prioritizing restoration of Pioneer Courthouse Square, the much loved City’s “living room”. The 2014 Parks Replacement Bond includes a not-to-exceed allocation of $10 million for all phases and costs associated with the renovation project at the Square.

Information about the upcoming Parks Replacement Bond renovations, including project background, overview, and schedule, can be found here.

Pioneer Courthouse Square is property of the City of Portland under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks & Recreation. It is managed in partnership by Pioneer Courthouse Square, Inc. a 501(c)(3) organization.
Pioneer Courthouse Square event and performance emails are intended to keep Friends of the Square informed about upcoming Square events and activities.
