img6

Are you a changemaker in the Coffs Coast region?

School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Australia and Mid Coast Communities are calling for changemakers to apply for the inaugural Coffs Coast Social Change 101 Program, commencing in March 2014.

The Program will provide a unique opportunity for up to 14 individuals to work collaboratively with a talented team of facilitators, business experts and seasoned entrepreneurs to gain the skills, confidence and networks to bring an idea or venture with a community benefit to life in the Coffs Coast region.

Unlike traditional educational and training programs, the 4-month Program will be based on the highly successful “learning by doing” approach at SSE. Students gain both practical business and personal skills that can be applied directly to their social or environmental enterprise. The Program brochure and Application Form can be downloaded at www.sse.org.au.

More info: Contact Katie Stubley or 0411 457 636

Interested in becoming a mentor?

We're looking to build a team of Coffs Coast-based pro bono mentors to provide one-on-one support to social entrepreneurs in the Program, as well as skills experts who can share their knowledge on a range of topics such as business planning, governance, legal issues, marketing, communications and social impact measurement.

Find out more about the SSE Australia Talent Pool or get in touch with our Talent Pool Manager - Sally McGeoch or 0438 153 655.

Coffs Harbour Movie Club -

The Coffs Harbour Movie Club presents:

Inside Llewyn Davis (MA)

(Review by David Stratten)

The Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan, are in sparkling form with their delicious new film, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, the Grand Prix winner at this year's Cannes Film Festival, in which Oscar Isaac plays the title character, a raffish singer who performs occasionally in bars and clubs in New York's Greenwich Village.
The year is 1961, and Llewyn is a pretty hopeless character. He has no home, but crashes on the lounges of indulgent friends whenever he can. His personal relationships are in an awful mess - he's been having an affair with Jean, CAREY MULLIGAN, the wife of his friend, Jim, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - his father seems not to know him, his agent is no good at all. Llewyn's misadventures, some funny some not, provide the meat in this thoroughly enjoyable film.

When:         Monday, 3 March 2014

Where:       Birch Carroll & Coyle (BCC) cnr Bray St and Pacific Hwy

Time:           Drinks and nibbles from 6pm. Feature at 7pm.

Urban Sketchers

Urban Sketchers

Urban Sketchers is a network of artists around the world who draw the cities where they live or ones they visit. They are an informal group of people who get together in their home town and, just for fun, sketch in a journal/visual diary for a couple of hours, moving around as they please. The emphasis is on SKETCHING (not painting finished pieces as in landscapes, portraits, etc.). The idea is to capture your unique view of your own environment, or those you visit. Being in a group is less intimidating than doing this alone!
