Two months ago, Nepal was rocked by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, followed by a 7.3 earthquake twelve days later. No matter how many times we stand on the brink of such devastation, the pain of seeing our fellow man suffer such horrific tragedy moves the heart and compels us into action. READ MORE

This short video will give you a glimpse of our medical teams in action, as well as the housing we have helped to provide as Nepal starts to rebuild.

As you can imagine, the Nepalese people were not the only ones who were impacted. Members of our teams have written about how their experience touched them, and here is what they had to say: READ MORE

Jack Minton, HFI Founder: "When passion and profession converge in missional service, the outcome is profound.  This month, 654 villagers, both young & old, received compassionate care from the hands and hearts of eleven willing Jesus-followers serving in HFI’s adopted village of Sous Savanne, Haiti....

As a member of this team, I was especially privileged to work with a friend of many years. We first met Danielle Brown when she was a little girl of four. 'Dani' is now a nurse, and as I observed her in action with our team in Sous Savanne, I couldn’t help but be deeply touched by what I saw...."  READ MORE

HFI board member Dr. Tayrien speaks of his experience in Haiti

Hope Force International board member, Dr. Richard Tayrien, shares a heartfelt message about his experience and observations as a physician on the recent HFI medical team.

It was a "terrible privilege" for Hope Force International [HFI] to serve in the aftermath of an E-F3 tornado which struck an area once home to many of our HFI staff. Eight of our current full-time Hope Force staff raised their families in the small community of Van, Texas. This disaster is personal for us, and for each one, it is "family" that we came alongside. Many of the households we served were former co-workers in Mercy Ships. READ MORE

Watch the video below, describing HFI's desire to bring hope to disaster survivors -- offered through the OASIS OF HOPE!

Members of the Hope Force International (HFI) team, both staff and Reservists, recently completed an important exercise – the erection of the "Oasis of Hope" 4,200 square foot tent. A lot of exciting developments are unfolding in this area of Appalachia, so stay tuned for more updates soon to come!

As you watch the nightly news, do you ever find yourself longing to be able to help those affected in the aftermath of disaster -- but just don't know how to help?  Or...do you feel inadequate to know what to do when tragedy strikes close to home?

The Hope Force International disaster responder training is for everyone -- no matter what your skill set or experience.  Whether you're someone who enjoys physically challenging work...coming alongside to offer emotional and spiritual care....or helping through administration -- there is a place for you!  Our goal is to train those with willing hearts who want to make a lasting difference to help survivors of trauma and loss.

We will often hear, "This training is not what I thought it was going to be...but so much better!" Aristotle said, "Education of the mind without education of the heart is no education at all." We agree.  Our training addresses both the heart and mind to prepare confident responders, and we believe this is the reason our HFI Reservists have been requested time and again.
