No images? Click here Cristina Gonzalez is a leader, educator, advocate, wife, mother, daughter, and proud Latina—a multifaceted role model for the Sunset Park community. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, she was recognized as one of the top 100 scholars in the country during high school. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics, she received a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Chicago for Public Policy, followed by her second master's from Bank Street College of Education. Cristina began her education career as an Early Childhood Education teacher at PS 94 in 2007 and became principal in 2018. Under her leadership, she has cultivated a culturally responsive school community, empowering students to embrace their heritage while promoting multilingualism and multiculturalism. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cristina and her team built key partnerships with the Chinese-American Planning Council and established a food pantry, clothing boutique, and laundry facilities at PS 94 to address systemic inequities exacerbated by the crisis. She has also expanded health services to include a dental office. Cristina has established partnerships with NYU Langone, Sunset Park CAB (Community Advisory Board), Together Growing Strong, ParentCorps, and the Center for Family Life. She is also a founding member of the Sunset Park Food Coalition Committee and the Sunset Park Tech Advocacy Group.
