The Big Bargain Book Sale

Our annual book sale will be held at the Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre, 75 Lyttelton Street, Somerfield, Christchurch.

  • Friday 23 March, 9am to 7pm
  • Saturday 24 March, 9am to 4pm

School holiday fun and learning at libraries includes Traditional Māori Games, Paper Suncatchers, Book Cover Bookmarks, and Board Games.  Learning Centre programmes including Lego Animation, Robo Fun, and Earth Smart.  Find out more about April school holiday programmes and activities. 
 

 
Easter hours

Easter holiday hours

Happy Easter from Christchurch City Libraries to you and your whānau. Libraries are closed on the public holidays Good Friday 30 March and Easter Monday 2 April. Saturday and Sunday aren't public holidays, so libraries will be open their normal hours (except Linwood Library at Eastgate which will be closed on Easter Sunday).
 

 
Anzac Day

Anzac Day

On Anzac Day 1923, the foundation stone for the Bridge of Remembrance was laid. Two special exhibitions explore the war stories of local soldiers:
Halswell Heroes Exhibition 9 April to 6 May at Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre
Sumner Boys Exhibition 26 April to 25 May at Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre

All libraries will be closed on Anzac Day Wednesday 25 April.
