Recruitment for CPC BuildingWorks Begins

We are now accepting applications for our next BuildingWorks pre-apprenticeship training program. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 24, residents of New York, and currently not enrolled in school. 

Interested applicants must attend a CPC Workforce Development Information Session for necessary information and documents to apply. Dates are listed in "Upcoming CPC Events" above.

SYEP Applications Are Available

Applications are now open for the 2017 DYCD Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Applications are due Friday, March 17, 2017. Participants are selected by lottery for the program. 

Youth are encouraged to apply on the DYCD website (https://application.nycsyep.com/). 

If youth are interested in applying to Ladders for Leaders, they must complete a SYEP application first to be directed to the Ladders for Leaders application page.

CPC Hosts 52nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

On February 2, 2017, CPC hosted its 52nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration at Jing Fong Restaurant with over 1,000 guests in attendance to celebrate the Year of the Rooster and honor five distinguished individuals and organizations in the community.

Learning and Building Confidence at
DYCD Chess Masters Tournament

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, Stacey Kourbanov (4th grade) and Shahrom Sayfullobekov (5th grade) represented CPC's Homecrest COMPASS @ PS153 at the 3rd Annual DYCD Chess Masters Tournament. Shahrom and Stacey joined over three hundred students from DYCD programs for the tournament.

CPC Adult Literacy Program at the 
National Museum of the American Indian

On December 22, 2016, twenty-eight students from CPC’s Workforce Development Division Adult Literacy Program visited the National Museum of the American Indian. Through the Literacy Program classes, students learn English literacy skills supplemented with civic engagement and American history. This trip was designed to enrich their lessons in the classroom with a more visual and hands-on experience.
