50 Hours of Service Initiative

Inline

Did you know that President Haas has challenged us to put in 50 hours of service this year? This is a campus-wide service challenge which helps celebrate both volunteer work and Grand Valley’s 50th anniversary.

The President’s 50 Hour Service Challenge, endorsed by President Thomas J. Haas, invites participants to complete 50 hours of service to the community. The challenge runs through April 1. All participants that successfully complete 50 hours of service will receive an invitation to a recognition ceremony.

The members of the College of Community & Public Service are already doing the hours...let's encourage students and others to officially log the hours and see how many CCPS faculty, staff, and students are recognized at the end of the year! MORE INFORMATION

US301 Internship & Job Search Strategies

Inline

If you are advising a student who is looking to land an internship or is nearing graduation and the transition into the world of work, US 301, Internship and Job Search Strategies may be just the ticket.

This one-credit, "process" course provides a structured approach to organizing and executing a job search campaign. Topics include skill identification, job market research, resume writing, effective networking, interviewing, negotiating offers, and job survival skills. Offered both fall and winter semesters, by instructors who are Career Services advisors, students benefit from the network inherent in this group experience. Timing is a important consideration in suggesting this course. It is most beneficial to take US 301 when the student is currently engaged in search.

Feedback from students about their class is extraordinarily supportive. They recognize that they have developed life-long job hunting skills that they will take with them. Questions? Feel free to call Career Services at 331-3311.
