Banks Peninsula Community News - 19 November 2020

Christchurch City Council

Greetings from your Community Board

Message from the Chair

Kia ora koutou,
The Council will be working with local communities around the Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Mt Herbert area as part of the coastal hazards adaption planning programme. This is timely as our district is already experiencing the first impacts of climate change. For Banks Peninsula, the warmer weather also brings restrictions in the way we use water, so we will all need to do our bit to save water as stream-fed water supplies in the area keep dropping.
If you haven't already, I encourage you all to check out the new Long Term Plan web portal, be part of the conversation and help shape the future of our city. Keep being  kind and look after one another. Kia kaha.

Chair of the Community Board

Board Chair, Tori Peden

Highlights of our latest meeting

Our Community Board met on Monday 16 November. Some highlights of our meeting included hearing from local residents as part of our Public Forum. Our Public Forums are an opportunity for the community to speak to the Board about matters important to them. Contact our community governance team to find out more. We received an update on the Akaroa Health Centre targeted rate, which recovers the cost of a grant that the Council will pay to the Akaora Community Health Trust (SCHT) in 2023. We also received an update on the four Banks Peninsula community libraries and approved no stropping restrictions on Selwyn Road, Ross Terrace and Selwyn Lane in Lyttelton. You can read the minutes to see what else we discussed and find out the dates, times and details of upcoming Community Board and Council meetings here.
