Honoring the Fallen:
Peace Officers Memorial Day - May 15, 2025

Each year on May 15, communities across the country pause to observe Peace Officers Memorial Day — a solemn occasion to honor the brave men and women of law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy and made an official part of National Police Week, this day reminds us of the courage, commitment, and sacrifice required of our nation’s Peace Officers.

Here in Juno Beach, we are fortunate to be served by a dedicated and professional police department. While we are grateful that our community has not experienced a line-of-duty death, we understand that our Officers face risks every day to protect and serve with integrity. Peace Officers Memorial Day is not only a time of remembrance, but also a time to express our gratitude to those who continue to serve — often without recognition — to keep our town safe.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation stands firmly in support of our Officers, past and present. We honor the memory of the more than 25,000 U.S. law enforcement Officers who have lost their lives in service to their communities. Behind every name etched on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., is a story of courage, a grieving family, and a legacy that deserves to be remembered.

This year, we encourage residents to take a moment on May 15 to reflect on the meaning of service, sacrifice, and community. If you see an Officer that day, a simple “thank you” goes a long way. It's a day to remember those we’ve lost and to acknowledge the ongoing commitment of those who continue to serve with professionalism and pride.

To the families of fallen Officers, we extend our deepest respect and sympathy. Their loss is immeasurable, and their loved one’s service will never be forgotten.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation remains committed to ensuring that the legacy of all fallen Officers is preserved and that those who continue to serve know they are valued, respected, and supported.

Let us stand together on Peace Officers Memorial Day — to remember, to honor, and to never forget.
