Welcome to our March 2021 edition of 1898! Spring is just around the corner and with it comes renewed hope for sunnier, warmer days ahead. Though social distancing carried over into the New Year, the reimagined ways we connected with alumnae have been nothing short of inspiring! In recent months, alumnae from around the world joined us for virtual events, panels and school assemblies, such as Career Conference, the Alumnae Association Annual General Meeting and School Birthday Assembly. We are connecting with more alumnae globally than ever before and it is a joy to see the way virtual capabilities have blurred geographic boundaries. We hope you enjoy this edition of 1898!

Help shape the future of the Crofton House School Alumnae Association

The Crofton House Alumnae Association is working on a new strategic plan that will help the association to make meaningful changes and reimagine the ways to best support alumnae and our communities. For planning of this type to be successful, it is important that the survey represents the aspirations, needs and experiences of all CHS alumnae. As a valued alumna, you are invited to complete a short 5-10 minute survey. Read here for more information. For any questions regarding this survey, please contact us at alumnae@croftonhouse.ca.

Celebrate and watch the School Birthday Assembly Livestream!

Thanks to the hard work of students and staff, we are able to continue the long-standing tradition of the school birthday celebration this year. Watch the recorded livestream of this year’s School Birthday Assembly, with musical pieces from our Junior and Senior School students and messages from this year’s Alumnae Achievement Award recipients.

School Birthday Celebrations of Years Past

Each year, the Senior Library in partnership with Crofton House Archives hosts a history-themed display in honour of the school's birthday. This year's focus was School Birthday celebrations of years past, with photographs dating from the early 1920's to the 1990's. Included in the display are rare books from the original library collections, from authors who are Crofton alumnae, and early uniform pieces like the 1940's era green "games romper" and the white beret, introduced in 1956 by Miss Bedford-Jones.
