Highlight: Junior Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows Career Development Workshop


Looking to establish your academic career? The American Society for Cell Biology Minorities Affairs Committee (MAC) is accepting applications for the 11th Annual Junior Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows Career Development Workshop. The workshop is open to junior faculty and postdoctoral fellows who are interested in academic careers at research-intensive or teaching institutions. Full Travel Support to attend is available for members of underrepresented groups in the sciences, members of disadvantaged populations, faculty (regardless of ethnicity) at minority-serving institutions, and individuals with interest and experience in expanding access and educational opportunities to under-represented students. The workshop will cover: Professional Conduct, Tenure, Grantsmanship, Mentorship, Leadership, Collaborations, Time Management, Writing, and Lab Setup/Management.

IMSD Senior Scholar Opportunity
The IMSD Program is seeking an advanced graduate student to serve as a senior scholar for the 4-part training module "Resources, Tools and Techniques in Biomedical Research" that will meet on June 9, 16, 23 & 30 (Thursdays) from 3-5pm in various locations within Sidney Frank Hall, and the Laboratories for Molecular Medicine. The senior scholar will assist the faculty instructor with planning and presentation of the module, handle administrative tasks such as monitoring attendance, and act as a peer mentor. Rhode Island Wavemaker Fellowship
Recent graduates have until June 15 to apply for the state's new student-loan reimbursement program, the Rhode Island Wavemaker Fellowship. The program awards graduates personal income tax credits to cover student loan payments for up to four years. Those eligible must be working in Rhode Island in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or certain design fields. Postdoctoral Researcher - Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Disease - National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences - National Institutes of Health - Bethesda, MD

The biology group in the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Disease Program (TRND) of National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences/NIH is looking for a self-motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in a team environment to advance drug development projects towards IND filing. This fellow will perform in vitro biochemical and cell-based experiments to support compound validation and optimization. He/She will learn and apply new technologies such as patient iPS cell-based disease models for evaluation of drug efficacy and toxicity.

The applicant should have a PhD degree with the background in cellular and molecular biology or pharmacology and with a good publication record. Experience in the stem cell research and/or drug screening is preferred. This position provides opportunities for productive publications.
