The BioMed Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to be hosting a Career Conversation with Rayna Truelove, PhD on Friday, October 21 at 9 am!

​Dr. Truelove received her PhD from Brown’s Neuroscience/NIH Graduate Partnership Program in 2013. She then went on to become the Director of Student Services for the NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program, before taking on her current role as Program Officer at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.

Nerd Nite - Adaptive Clothing and Egyptian Hieroglyphs
Join us on Wednesday, October 19 at 5:30-7:30 at AS220 for the next installment of Nerd Nite! Nerd Nite is a monthly meeting of nerds who love to hear about new ideas in a chill environment. This month, we'll have talks about adaptive clothing and Egyptian hieroglyphs from members of the Brown community, Christian Casey and Krystal Sarcone. Cost is $5, or free with a Brown ID. Save the Date: Second Annual Brown Brain Fair
This event will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 and consider joining us as a presenter. The inaugural Brain Fair was a complete success; over 600 people attended this outreach event where 28 labs, organizations, and institutes made their research fun and accessible to the general public. The Fair won “Event of the Year” from the Brown Student Activities Office and was covered by several media outlets, including the Providence Journal and the Brown Daily Herald. This year we’re looking for even more participants. If you’re interested in reserving a table for March 2017 or if you’d like more information, please email admin@brownbrainbee.org.

Postdoc Opportunity

Postdoctoral Fellow - Institute for Immunology and Informatics - University of Rhode Island - Providence, RI

The Institute for Immunology and Informatics has an immediate opening for a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in its Laboratory of Viral Immunity and Pathogenesis. The fellow will be expected to apply molecular and cell culture methods and bioinformatics tools to investigate immune profiles in response to a dengue virus vaccine. The fellow will interact with basic and clinical investigators in a newly-funded collaborative project.

Eligible individuals are graduates of medical and graduate schools holding MD, PhD, DVM, or comparable degrees in the biological sciences and research experience in microbiology, virology, immunology or a related area. Open Rank Instructional Faculty - School of Neuroscience - Virginia Tech - Blacksburg, VA

Prospective faculty members must show a sincere interest in teaching undergraduates and be prepared to develop innovative courses. Successful candidates will establish a competitive research program that can attract extramural funding from a wide variety of funding agencies and are expected to show a desire to include undergraduates as an integral part of their research program.

VT expects to recruit up to 15 new faculty members over the next 3 years, with the majority being recruited at the tenure track Assistant Professor level. However, well-qualified mid-career applicants are also encouraged to apply. Competitive salary, space and start-up packages will be provided.
