New Project News: Chile Project
Did you know that Chile has the world’s best irradiance values thanks to the high levels of solar radiation in the Atacama Desert? That irradiance makes Chile one of the ten biggest PV markets when it comes to investment in renewable energy sources.
We at meteocontrol are excited to have a presence in this market. In cooperation with Ingetrace SPA from Santiago de Chile, we are the monitoring partner of the Chilean Ministry of Energy as part of their public solar roof program.
By 2018, 300 roofs on public buildings in Northern and Central Chile will be equipped with PV systems and monitored centrally via the meteocontrol monitoring system. For more information, read our latest press release.
meteocontrol Consulting Spotlight: What Yield Reports can do for You
meteocontrol invented solar monitoring, and over the years we have used our expertise to help clients do a variety of projects. In addition to our ground breaking monitoring hardware and software, we also have a suite of consulting services we offer our clients. We have provided independent engineering services for projects with a total investment of $13 Billion.
One amazing thing we can offer our clients is the ability to do yield reports. A yield report uses over twenty-five years of weather data and tech. specs to predict with an extreme level of accuracy the amount of kWh a client can expect to generate from a pv site.
What can a Yield Report do for you?
-
Provide a faster and simpler financing decision by investors and banks worldwide
-
Give reliable forecasting of system performance taking location-specific factors into account
-
Create planning certainty for investors due to realistic estimation of expected yields
Aspects of a Yield Report:
-
Procurement of weather data from at least two independent sources (Long-term monthly means of irradiance and temperature)
-
Conversion of average monthly values into hourly values using Synthesis processes
-
Taking into account local conditions such as number of days of snow, objects causing shading and the specific irradiance profile for the site with regard to low light characteristics
-
Specific system configuration is considered
-
Detailed time-step simulations for each subsystem
-
Summary Report containing all relevant information and results
-
Definition of safety margins
-
Details of the annual fluctuation range
-
Diagram of yields and percentile at selected

Partner Training April 23-25, 2017
Our world class staff will be coming to sunny Los Angeles to train our partners on April 23-25, 2017.
This session is devoted to learning Power Control and how to use VCOM analytics to save money. Join us the evening of the 23rd for a networking event. On April 24th and 25th enjoy hands on training, simulations, and lecture.
Would you like to be a part of our Partner Training in Los Angeles, CA April 23-25? Please contact sales-na@meteocontrol.com to be added to our list. We look forward to seeing you there.
blue'Log X Series: More Compatibility and New Functions
Compatibility with Siebert display
blue’Log X series supports the Siebert display XC series
With Siebert displays in the XC series, you can bring the performance of your solar energy system to visible life. In the foyer, in the lobby or in an outdoor area used by the general public. See the Siebert homepage for more information.
New Inverter Drivers
Refusol driver
Communications with inverters can now be done via the ethernet (TCP). Both the monitoring of the inverters and power control are supported via the ethernet.
Data sheet
Delta driver
The inverters made by Delta Energy Systems are now supported by the data loggers of our Blue'Log X series.
Delta inverters are now supported by Blue'Log.

New Functions
CSV download of the diagram display
With the new CSV download function, you can download the displayed measured values of a diagram in a MS-Excel compatible CSV format for additional processing. You may use this function for all graphical diagrams.
USB firmware update via the Blue’Log website
You can now perform a firmware update with a USB flash drive via the Blue’Log website. This option is provided to you as an additional service on the firmware page.
Transmission interval to VCOM: optimized configuration
Recorded measurement data of the Blue’Log is transmitted as quickly as possible to VCOM or, via ftp-Push, to a freely selectable ftp server. The transmission interval will automatically correspond to the configured data recording interval.

VCOM: Innovation by Experience
New: VCOM API for data retrieval and connection to third-party providers
With the new VCOM API (Application Programming Interface), we offer a modern interface for retrieving data and connecting VCOM to systems from third-party providers. With the VCOM API, you can retrieve both measurement data and technical data for your systems. The interface also allows access to your tickets.
Discover all the possibilities and example uses in the online documentation.
Contact us today for an indepth tutorial for the new VCOM API and see the benefits of the new interface: Email sales-na@meteocontrol.com or call 224.310.5700
Time-saving: Upload report templates for all systems
We have made it easier for you to upload report templates: from the February release, users from the new administrator group can upload report templates which will be available for all systems. The files will be placed in the “Report templates” folder. Using the replacement function, these templates can be updated without the sending options being lost.
New Features: VCOM Portfolio Reporting
VCOM gives you the benefit of visualizing multiple sites in the control room. The on-screen data display is customized to your preferences.
With the February software release, We have made it easier for you to download data and users from the new administrator group can now download data at a portfolio level. You can report the data via our new improved V1 reporting which allows you to gather data points from multiple sites onto one report. See below for an example of the report. Please contact 224.310.5700 for a tutorial on portfolio reporting.
New Password Guidelines for Greater Data Security
To protect your data even better in the future, we have updated our password guidelines.
Did you know that the number of characters used has a particularly big influence on the strength of a password? Long passwords without special characters, numbers and capital letters may even be more secure than shorter, supposedly more complicated passwords. For example, it will take on average three years of online attacks to crack the password “solarplant” – although it is relatively easy to remember. In contrast, it will take hackers just 13 days on average to crack the much more complicated password “$0L@R”.
To boost your data security, we've increase the minimum password length to 10 characters. When entering your password, you will also be given tips on how to make it more secure.
