Dear Supporter,

We have so many incredible individuals, businesses and groups that have gone above and beyond this year; donating their time, money, expertise and hard work to help us deliver 30 support services to local families.

This year in South Australia (to date):

* 49 children have been newly diagnosed with cancer, and referred to the Childhood Cancer Association.
* 12 children have relapsed.
* 8 children have sadly passed away.

Each year, the Childhood Cancer Association supports more than 400 families affected by childhood cancer, and we simply couldn't do this without our supporters - so THANK YOU!

On behalf of the staff, board and families we support, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year.

Support a family in need this Christmas

Meet the Pannenburg family.

They’re a regular family, probably much like yours. But, when their daughter Holly was diagnosed with leukaemia at just four-months-old, their nightmare began.

“It was like we were in a bubble”, says Holly’s Mum, Alice. "Everything else around us just stopped”.

School Fundraising Program for 2018

Kids Helping Kids

"Lose your change and change a life" is a great program providing awareness for school students to help them understand how fortunate they are to be healthy, able to attend school every day and make friends.

Taking part in this Childhood Cancer Association fundraising initiative will give children the opportunity to have a direct impact in the lives of local children who unlike themselves are currently not well enough to attend school.

How does it work?

The "Lose your change and change a life" campaign is aimed at raising funds for the home tutor scheme to support South Australian children with cancer and their families.

Each class or student will be given a collection tin at the beginning of term. They will then be responsible for their own tin and together with their class and families can decide how they can fill it up, with the tin collected and counted at the end of term 3.

A Christmas Fair to Remember

A truly amazing day!

A huge thank you to our friends at Edge Church for hosting the Childhood Cancer Association's Family Christmas Fair again this year.

Families were able to create special memories at the Fair with a vast array of activities, games and culinary treats. A visit to Santa and Elliot was a favourite photo spot, while fun was had on the big slide, indoor laser squirmish and inflatable world. Slime making and the bouncy castle were popular for the younger kids and the classic & luxury car rides were a delight for the teens, as well as the mums and dads!

There were surprises at every corner, so many smiles and so much joy.

Kiwanis’ Colleen honoured for ongoing commitment

It was an absolute honour to recognise Colleen Doran for her hard-work, passion and commitment to the Childhood Cancer Association.

Originally, a member of the Kiwanis Club Burnside East, Colleen has actively pursued projects to provide much needed funds to the Association.

In her biggest endeavour, Colleen conceived and set up a project to raise funds to provide wheelchairs for children. A total of $10,000 was raised and this enabled CCA to purchase 10 wheelchairs and 6 pairs of leg extensions.

Over the past 8 years, the Kiwanis Clubs with Colleen’s enthusiastic support and coordination have donated around $49,000.

Now a member of Kiwanis Reedbeds, Colleen has been honoured with a plaque on a new wooden bench seat at the Michael Rice Units in Prospect to acknowledge her outstanding volunteer contribution.

Colleen has touched the lives of so many children and families who have benefited from her efforts and we couldn’t think of a more worthy recipient.

Thank you so much Colleen!

We are so grateful to our corporate partners and community fundraisers. Just to name a few...

Bartons have partnered with investment manager, Future Generation Investment Company, who provide their investment service 'pro bono' and donate their management fee to Australian charities, with a focus on children and youth at risk. Bartons' clients pooled their share of the management fee donations and selected us as the beneficiary. As a result, we received a much-needed donation of $8,739.

Eddie Izzard - Proceeds from comedian Eddie Izzard's exclusive 'Force Majeure' show in Adelaide were donated to childhood cancer - an impressive $9,512.

Family Fun Day - 5 year old Izzy Elliott and her family held a Family Fun Day at Aldinga Bay Hockey Club to support the three charities that have helped Izzy throughout her treatment - the Childhood Cancer Association was thrilled to receive $1,673.45 from the day.

Levi's Bake Sale - As a way for 7 year old big brother Levi to give back to everyone who has supported his 3 year old sister Madison during her treatment, Levi held a bake sale at his school, Westbourne Park Primary, raising $760 for childhood cancer - that's a lot of cookies!

Melbourne Cup - Big thanks to The Lakes Resort Hotel and the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel for raising more than $4,000 for childhood cancer as part of their Melbourne Cup celebrations. From silent auctions, raffle prizes and best dressed competitions, it was a fun day out while supporting a good cause.

Bradley's Place Thank You - We held a special thank you celebration for the community fundraisers and hard workers that help to manage and care for our respite accommodation at Bradley's Place. Many hands make light work and we are so grateful for the ongoing commitment of our volunteers.

Virginia Nursery - Did you know, customers who throw coins into the water fountain at Virginia Nursery are supporting the Childhood Cancer Association? After the hard work of our volunteers to wash, dry and count the coins, it all added up to an impressive $5,316.

Find out how you can fundraise for us.
