Could we be entering an era of proper retail pricing?

 

With an ear to the ground, many retail market analysts predict demand will soon be outstripping supply in the home improvement sector. 'Powered Now' research shows 18% of Brits are planning to commence home improvements after the COVID-19 lockdown. Lack of supply feeding into areas of high demand will lead to longer lead times and less room for discounted prices. Consumers may just have to wait a little longer for their home improvement products, and also may have to pay slightly more. This isn't such as bad prospect for those involved in the home improvement sector. If you can ride out the current storm, the medium and long term doesn't look too bad...

Surrealist masterwork in the frame for auction sale in access of £15 million

The beauty of a window is no better illustrated than by this work of art. René Magritte’s iconic ‘Le mois des vendanges’ depicts the enigmatic character of the bowler hatted man for which Magritte is best known. The painting is one of three works to be sold at Christie’s The Art of the Surreal sale on the 9th of March. It is expected to fetch up to £15m. It’s a picture that you can just sit and stare at and let your mind escape  - perfectly illustrating the power of a beautiful window and the opening it provides into different worlds and views.

FIT Show 2021 rescheduled for Sunday 26th - Tuesday 28th of September 

FIT Show organisers have announced new dates for its 2021 event, postponing the fenestration industry’s flagship UK event from May until September 2021. FIT Show will return to the NEC from Sunday 26th - Tuesday 28th September 2021 with organisers having secured a new, safer timeline in the Birmingham venue’s heavily disrupted schedule. The announcement follows a period of unprecedented uncertainty due to the ongoing global impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. Organisers have taken proactive steps to move FIT Show into a safer timeline in the Autumn of 2021. Event Director Nickie West said: “We believe that FIT Show in the Autumn of 2021 will come at just the right time for the industry, steering the ship to reflect the industry’s V-shaped recovery."

Covid vaccinations for tradespeople a 'no-brainer'

Outspoken Chairman of Pimlico Plumber Charlie Mullins is looking to rewrite his workers contracts to require them to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. It’s an interesting concept and demonstrates an impressive duty of care for his workers. Wether it’s practical will be another thing and will reply on the availability of speed of roll out and private immunisations.
