Peabody Newsletter - February 2019
The Peabody Institute has already had a busy start to 2019. Some of our collections have travelled down to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and we welcomed numerous families to our Family Fun with Archaeology Day. Artifacts from the Peabody at the Smithsonian?! Read on to learn more about the Lucy Foster Collection and why it's at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC).
Families drop into the Peabody for a fun-filled morning of archaeology themed activities such as creating cave paintings, making clay pots, and decorating Greek paper vases. Read on to learn more about our newest activities – making nets out of yarn and writing under water!
The Lucy Foster ceramics are a unique find amongst the Peabody’s extensive collection. Read on to learn more about how these ceramics give insight into Lucy Foster and her life as a freed woman in Andover over 200 years ago.
