Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the State Shipments for December 2018.

Here are a few key findings:

  • Total U.S. beer shipment volume increased by 2.3% during December 2018 on the same number of selling days compared to December 2017.
  • December’s performance was generally strongest in the Midwest and Southeast.
  • December’s above average trend was driven partially by relatively strong performance among FMBs, including hard seltzers, and modest improvement among on-premise outlets.
  • Our current estimate of beer performance for the full calendar year of 2018 is minus 1.0% in volume, but this estimate remains subject to revision.
