Destination: Mountains - IFMGA guide Chris Lawrence

When you scan the Senior yearbook of Chris Lawrence's graduating highschool class, he stands out. Most entries fall along these lines: "Destination: Stanford, Abmition: Law." And then you get to Chris. "Destination: Mountains, Ambition: Abandon the Rat Race."

Lawrence's career has been a journey based on this ambition. He's stayed in the mountains as an Outdoor Educator, a Search and Rescue member, and a Mountain Guide.

Today, Chris is our Lead winter ski guide. His gives his guests an experience born from years of guiding and love for the Coast Mountains. Chris is guiding our Spearhead Travese trips this spring.

Spring Skiing: Where to Go & What to Know

April is famous for its ski touring. But why is it so good? Here's a few things we love about spring skiing:

- Daylight Savings brings longer days for bigger objectives. Now is the time for traverses and hard-to-get-to lines.

- Backcountry travel is made faster by having less of that waist deep powder stuff to get in your way. Plan some trips to take advantage of spring's good skiing and efficient travel conditions.

- Generally, snow conditions stablize in the spring resulting in more predictable avalanche conditions.
