Hurricane Dorian: Situation Report #1

September 2, 2019

Our team here at Hope Force International (HFI) has been working on navigating a way forward as it pertains to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. I know all of our hearts have been moved by the devastation we are seeing in the Bahamas – and like you, we’ve been praying for the survivors. We also join countless others -- praying that the storm will take a significant turn out to the open sea with little or no damage to the SE coast of the USA…or anywhere else.

HFI is exploring ways in which we may assist with relief efforts in the Bahamas.  We’re connecting with other partner agencies in-country to identify an indigenous partner to receive a HFI assessment team, with opportunities beginning to take shape. As you can imagine, responding to an island has its numerous logistical challenges -- and having a local partner is absolutely essential.

Joey Stoltzfus, HFI Disaster Response Director -- staged with disaster response resources in South Carolina --  has been reaching out to connections / partners along the SE coast in pursuit of a location to establish a base of operations once the storm has passed. As Dorian begins it’s projected northerly course, HFI will continue to monitor the storm and place all Reservists on standby for a likely deployment in the days ahead.

Hope Force anticipates a significant need of both people and finances to mount and sustain our efforts. Your prayers for survivors and responders as we move forward are much appreciated.

HFI Reservists:  if you are able to respond to this great need, please contact Connie with details on availability.

Dorian Hits the Abaco Islands as a CAT 5

PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION TO HFI’S HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF EFFORTS!  OUR HOPE AND PRAYER IS TO SERVE AS MANY AS WE CAN...AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN.
