Common Core Will Be Discussed at 10-10-13 Meeting

Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10th  the Taylor Building, 128 SW Birley Ave. in Lake City.  Velinda Root will be our guest speaker and she will be speaking on Common Core and what we can do about it.

Velinda Root is a native Floridian, an elementary school teacher, and a Florida State University graduate. She and husband Bob have two children, and three grandchildren who are in the public school system in Central Florida. Through the years she has seen many changes in school practices, as well as changes in families and children. She has great concern about the direction in which public education is heading and the speed with which it is doing so. Not only should public school families be concerned, but also those of private and parochial schools. For years there has been indoctrination within the curriculum, but most teachers and parents didn't think too much about it. Now that many in our country have discovered just what this is all about, they are sounding the alarm. The curriculum used with Common Core and the testing associated with it are the vehicles to advance an agenda not desired in a Constitutional Republic. Our children are innocent and will be so indoctrinated that they will never even realize what has happened. It is up to us to try to save our children!

Please invite your family and friends!  If you know any teachers, invite them as well!  This is an extremely important topic, we all need to learn as much about it as possible.  Rep. Mayfield has a bill, HR 25, that she wants to get through the Florida Legislature during the next session.  Read the bill at:  HR25.  She needs co-sponsors for this bill.  Why not call Rep. Porter's Office and ask her to be a co-sponsor.

Support Trucker's Ride For the Constitution - October 11th - 13th

Government Shutdown Update

The Shutdown continues!!  Please call the offices of the Representatives and Senators that are trying to do the right thing along with the ones who seem to be wavering.  (See our newsletter of October 4th)  Here is a good article on the things that have been shutdown:
