Brookdale Locked Rehabilitation Unit – Specialist Learning Disability Service

Brookdale is an 8-bedded locked rehabilitation service in Derbyshire for males and females with a learning disability who also have additional complex needs, including forensic histories. Our facility accepts both detained and informal patients and receives referrals from medium and low secure services.

The focus at Brookdale is on rehabilitation in a safe and structured environment.

We offer:

• A service for adult males and females (18 years and over) with a learning disability.
• A specialist multi-disciplinary team rehabilitation programme to support and develop community participation.
• Focus on risk assessment and reduction programmes, developing daily living skills, coping strategies, relapse prevention and other individual treatment requirements.  
• Access to social and educational projects
• A patient led, person-centred professional service underpinned by measurable outcomes.

The unit is focused on quality outcomes with clinical audit being a key priority. Our bespoke facility offers the appropriate environment for this highly specialist and inclusive service. Our needs-led intensive clinical and therapeutic input is provided by the well trained on-site multi-disciplinary team, providing individually tailored care pathways to support a successful patient journey. • Specialists in Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
• Occupational therapy
• Psychiatry
• Activities Coordinator
• Technical Instructors

Brookdale consistently maintains a high standard of compliance when reporting to commissioners and a high level of CQUIN ratings. Hurst Review (2008) assessed our quality scores as ‘exceptionally high’ - rating us 5th out of 1,000 specialist units.

As a result of this commitment to excellence, Brookdale is the only provider to be funded by the East Midlands Hub to participate in the development of The Learning Disability Life Star outcome measure and to run the Pilot project. Brookdale is also within the top two providers commissioned by the East Midland Hub to provide a Locked Rehabilitation service.
