We're hiring Rail Safety Officers

We're currently taking applications to fill two Rail Safety Officer positions.

The position of Rail Safety Officer forms a part of the Rail Safety branch, Transport Safety Victoria.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in safety operations and compliance in the rail industry.

 

You must also have demonstrated ability to contribute to high level policy and strategy development on matters affecting safe operations.

A Rail Safety Officer is responsible for providing advice and maintaining effective communication and relationships with senior management and accredited and non-accredited rail operators and industry stakeholders regarding rail safety, accreditation and compliance matters.

Catching the right tram, at the right time

New video technology is being trialled on Melbourne’s tram network that could be rolled out in the future to tell passengers how many people are on approaching trams.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan said the trial is investigating technology that could help passengers choose whether to take the first tram that comes along, or wait for one arriving shortly after that may have more space. Read more

 
Free travel for seniors during Seniors Festival

Free public transport services between Sunday 2 October and Sunday 9 October are making it easy for Victorian Seniors Card holders to travel to festival events or get out and explore Victoria.

Services include free metropolitan trains, trams and buses, and regional town bus services for eight days 2-9 October.
