MEDIA RELEASE 19 June 2017 LOCAL MILAN: Showcasing local design from Milan Design Week The exhibition LOCAL MILAN, on display at Australian Design Centre until 9 August, puts a spotlight on design talent in Australia, proving they can hold their own on an international stage. Sydney design hub LOCAL DESIGN lead by curator, stylist and designer Emma Elizabeth, presented the work of eleven established Australian designers in LOCAL MILAN at the world’s biggest design fair, Milan Design Week earlier this year. Curating a selection of functional design pieces within the Oratorio della Passione, Emma Elizabeth transformed the historic building to represent a contemporary Australian design aesthetic. On returning to Australia, LOCAL DESIGN is presenting LOCAL MILAN within the Australian Design Centre, creating a sensory experience for audiences at home. Featuring a mixture of memories and Milano moments, Australian design product including seating to lighting to textile to objet d’arte, accompanied by sounds by Australian artist Tash Sultana and with the scents of Aesop. ‘I hope that the audience feels like they have been part of our personal journey through the power of imagery, and the work, engaging in the scent and sound.’ Designers featured in the exhibition are Emma Elizabeth, Tom Fereday, Adam Goodrum, Charles Wilso, Tom Skeehan, Ross Gardam, Kate Banazi x Ryan McGoldrick, ACV Studio, Jon Goulder, Dowel Jones and Christopher Boots. As part of the exhibition LOCAL MILAN
