Business & Growth

European Ministers meet to talk about growth : The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Business Minister Edward Davey welcomed a group of European Ministers to London, to discuss driving economic growth in the EU, trade across borders and unleashing the full potential of Europe’s enterprises.

Fashion and construction champions honoured: On behalf of her Majesty the Queen, Business Secretary Vince Cable presented Honorary Awards to fashion designer Orla Kiely and fellow Irish citizen, Ray O’Rourke, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Laing O’Rourke construction company.

Regional Development Agency assets: The Government has agreed to transfer land and property assets owned by Regional Development Agencies to the Homes and Communities Agency.

Business Minister visits West Midlands: Business Minister Mark Prisk is on a two day tour of the West Midlands, where he is meeting with local businesses and hosting discussions with local enterprise partnerships.

Higher Education & science

Access to space: Science Minister David Willetts has secured agreement to reduce costs for UK operators of satellites, paving the way for cheaper access to space.

National Measurement System: The Government has committed its support to the National Measurement System and outlined the action it will take to meet the changing needs of business and society.

EU / Korea Free Trade Agreement: British exporters keen on investing in the Far East will be given the opportunity to grow their business on Asian soil as the EU / Korea Free Trade Agreement has come into force.
