SSRC's Mellon International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF) offers 9-12 months of support to graduate students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences (including Art History, architectural history, Classics, Drama/Theater, Film Studies, Performance Studies, and Literature) who are enrolled in PhD programs in the U.S. and conducting dissertation research on non-US topics regardless of citizenship. Darat Al Funun-The Khalid Shoman Foundation is pleased to announce the open call for it’s 2015-16 dissertation fellowship for the study of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Arab World. The fellowship provides financial support of up to ten thousand US dollars to Ph.D. candidates in the humanities and social sciences. In collaboration with Qatar Museum and Qatar Foundation, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern art introduces its long-term project, Mathaf Encyclopedia of Modern Art and the Arab World (MEMAAW) to provide a major resource on Arab artists and their histories. The bilingual Encyclopedia is a free online scholarly comprehensive resource that will provide basic facts and in depth information on modern art of the Arab world. Tangier-based artist Yto Barrada takes the esteemed 2015 Abraaj Group Art Prize. Yto Barrada’s newly commissioned work, produced for The Abraaj Group Art Prize, will be part of an exhibition at Art Dubai, March 18-21, 2015. The exhibition will also feature previous works by the three shortlisted artists—Sarnath Banerjee, Setareh Shahbazi and Mounira Al Solh, and Omar Kholeif, who has been selected as 2015 Guest Curator.
