Glyphosate call for informationWe are seeking information to help us determine how much glyphosate is being imported and manufactured in New Zealand, and importantly, how it’s being used. Submissions are open until 5.00pm on 27 August. Chemical Review triggers classification updatesThe hazard classifications of 123 substances have been updated as part of the latest Chemical Review by the EPA. Suppliers, manufacturers, and users of chemical products should check the application documents to see whether their products are affected by the changes. Candidate call extendedWe have extended the deadline to have your say on which new organisms should no longer hold regulatory status as “new”, because they are effectively resident in Aotearoa New Zealand. Submissions now close at 5.00pm on 4 June. GHS 7 now in effectNew Zealand is now using the Globally Harmonised System (GHS 7), an internationally agreed way of classifying chemicals. The changes primarily require importers and manufacturers to update their hazard classification, labelling, and safety data sheets. Explosives import certificate amendment feeChanges to existing import certificates may now be subject to an additional application fee. This is dependent on the type and number of changes required and is at the discretion of the EPA.
