3-D Mammography Improves Cancer Detection

A new, improved method of breast cancer detection is now available at the Olson Center for Women's Health, one of only a few health care centers in the region offering this cutting-edge 3D mammography. This new technology, when combined with a conventional 2D mammography, has a 40 percent higher invasive cancer detection rate than conventional 2D mammography alone. Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Screening

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 118,000 new cancers involving the head and neck region will be diagnosed in 2015 and nearly 14,000 patients will die of head and neck cancers this year. Early identification can have an enormous impact on survival. Nebraska Medicine and the Methodist Estabrook Center are offering free screenings on the following dates:

  • Thursday, April 9, 4 to 6 p.m., Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center
  • Tuesday, April 14, 3 to 6 p.m., Nebraska Medicine -- Nebraska Medical Center

Nebraska Medicine Teams with NRG Media for "We Can" Beat Cancer Event

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and NRG Media are  hosting a fundraising event for cancer in April called  “WE CAN.”

Scheduled for April 9 and 10 on NRG Media radio stations 1020 am, 1290 AM, 101.9 FM, 106.9 FM, 1620 AM, 98.5 FM, 106.9 FM and 1180 AM, listeners will hear stories of milestones achieved at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Nebraska Medicine, as well as our bold plans for the future.
