On January 28, 2019, thirty-five CPC staff and community members met with forty NY State legislators during the inaugural “Advancing Our CommUNITY” State Advocacy Day.
On December 28, 2018, CPC's Beacon Program at IS 220 hosted their annual Holiday Family Night. The Beacon regularly hosts Family Nights to bring the community together for a night of family fun and resource sharing.
On December 29, 2018, CPC Queens Services for Families with Special Needs hosted their annual holiday celebration. The event was attended by sixty families, supporters such as the Fu Foundation and Mass Mutual, and elected officials NYC Councilmember Peter Koo and representatives from NYS Assemblymember Barnwell's office.
CPC Brooklyn Seniors Perform at Congressman Max Rose's Inauguration On January 5th, 2019, CPC Brooklyn's Senior Services performed a traditional dance routine at Congressman Max Rose's inauguration at the historic Saint George Theater in Staten Island.
CPC Statement on the Attack in Brooklyn Chinese Restaurant The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) condemns the violence that happened in a Sheepshead Bay Chinese restaurant on January 15. This act of hate is one of far too many that have occurred in New York City in the past two years and continues to be on the rise.
CPC congratulates Julie Menin on her appointment to the dual role of Director of the Census for NYC and Executive Assistant Corporation Counsel for Strategic Advocacy. On January 2, 2019, Ms. Menin was appointed to her two new positions by NYC Mayor de Blasio.

Peter Cheng became the next Director of the CPC Queens Nan Shan Senior Center, effective January 31, 2019, following the planned retirement of the Center’s current Director, Michael Wang. Beacon's 2019 Lunar New Year and Lights
on After-School CelebrationCPC's Beacon Community Center will host the 2019 Lunar New Year and Lights on After-School celebration. Through this event, we will also honor distinguished guests and community members that have made a significant impact in the community through our Beacon Community Center @ IS 220.
