Greetings from your Community BoardMessage from the ChairKia ora koutou, School holidays are here again and there's heaps of activities around town to keep you and the kids entertained. I'm looking forward to getting together with the winners of our Community Service and Youth Service Awards 2021 later this month. Thanks to all our volunteers for the great work you do in our community. There are so many fantastic playgrounds, parks and walkways to explore in our Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton area. I hope you can wrap up warm and get out there. Stay together, look after one another. Board Chair, Mike Mora Highlights from our latest meetingOur Community Board met on Tuesday 13 July. Some of the highlights of our meeting included hearing from local residents as part of our Public Forum. Tina Mack, local resident, addressed the Board regarding her desire for a fully fenced dog park in the southwest of Christchurch and Paul Deacon, Chairman, spoke on behalf of the Christchurch Disc Golf Club Incorporated regarding the Club's plans for Disc golf in Christchurch in general and in the Community Board area. We also received the Community Board Area Report for July 2021, which gives us an overview of all the great work being done in our area. Feedback sought on the Huritini/Halswell River Draft Stormwater Management PlanChristchurch City Council is seeking public feedback on plans to improve the way we manage the city’s stormwater. We want to know your thoughts on the draft Huritini/Halswell River Stormwater Management Plan. The catchment of the Huritini/Halswell River spans most of the western fringe of the city, from the intersection of Chattertons and Langdales roads north of Templeton, to Old Tai Tapu Road, where the river leaves the city boundary. The catchment has a varied and sensitive water environment, characterised by the temporary upper reaches of tributaries and a number of built drains, natural springs and ponding areas. The area includes Nottingham and Knights streams, and the suburbs of Wigram, Halswell, Cashmere and Hornby. Check out Have Your Say and share your view before 30 August 2021. Partnerships help to retrain dogs for adoptionThe Christchurch City Council Animal Services team's focus on retraining dogs for adoption has resulted in almost all dogs being rehomed last year.
