Draft Bike Plan open for comment The Town and the City of South Perth have embarked on a joint effort to deliver a comprehensive bike plan for the community, which aims to understand the needs of the cycling community and seek to further develop the existing cycling infrastructure. We want to make the cycling network and facilities better connected across the two local government areas, which will make cycling safer and more convenient. Following consultation and stakeholder workshops in 2017, a draft bike plan has now been produced. The draft plan is available for public comment until 12 March 2018. Please visit the Town’s online consultation hub Your Thoughts to view the plan and to provide your feedback. Did someone say free coffee? Harold Rossiter irrigation The current irrigation system no longer meets operational requirements. We are replacing the system with a new design that separates the playing areas from the passive areas to create hydrozones and use water more efficiently. Stage 2 of the Harold Rossiter Reserve irrigation upgrade will begin after the cricket season finishes in mid-March. Areas of the reserve will still be accessible during works. Carlisle Reserve irrigation Due to issues with capacity from an existing bore, we are installing a 130KL tank to irrigate Carlisle Reserve. A smaller pump will be installed down the bore to trickle feed the tank during daylight hours. A new pump will pump water from the tank into the existing irrigation infrastructure to water overnight. Works are expected to be completed by end of March. Playground upgrades! The Town is pleased to announce the upgrade of the playgrounds in Fletcher Park and Fraser Park. The works will involve replacing the existing playgrounds, which have been popular and well used for a number years. To share your thoughts on the upgrade please visit the Town's Your Thoughts page. Applications are open now and can be made online. Be a responsible dog owner Rangers are currently targeting people who do not pick up after their dogs – always carry a poo bag with you while out walking! Do you have a blow up pool in your backyard? Did you know that inflatable pools are covered by the same legislation as in-ground pools? Children can drown without a sound and in a matter of seconds. Constant supervision is the safest way to keep your kids safe, but having the correct pool fencing is a second layer of protection to stop children gaining access to the water in the pool. For large inflatable and portable pools that can hold more than 30cm of water (the size of an average ruler):
Fines can apply if you don’t have a compliant barrier/fence around inflatable and portable pools that can be filled with more than 30cm of water. For more information visit the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website.
