Explaining Research: Effective and Engaging Communication of Science
Instructor: Cornelia Dean
Senior Scholar: Torrey Truszkowski

Have you ever struggled to tell your grandparents about your dissertation research? This 3-part training module will help you turn those blank faces in the audience into smiles of understanding. Covering a wide variety of audiences, including journalists, students, the general public and Members of Congress, you will learn how to discuss your scientific endeavors with people who last took a science course in high school. Well done science communication opens many doors for you - especially if you are thinking about leaving academia. Cornelia Dean of the New York Times leads the module as her last course in her artist in residence position.
