Evening Speaker

--------------------

The 2014 Forever Faithful International Camporee would like to welcome Sam Leonor as the evening speaker.

Sam Leonor loves his work as Pastor to the students and faculty of La Sierra University. He is passionate about spiritual awakening among youth and young adults. He likes to see them bloom into faith that is mission oriented, growing and full of love. His ministry is marked by a call to radical faith in Jesus. He loves finding ways to engage culture so that more people will find a life devoted to Jesus irresistible.

His hobbies include making music, eating good food, and having good conversations with family and friends. Sam was raised in Central America, where his parents were part of developing church and health care missions. He has degrees from Southern Adventist University and Andrews University. He is married to Shelley Campbell. They have two children, Alexandra (born in 2000), and Micah (born in 2003).

Sabbath Speaker

--------------------

On Sabbath morning, the Pathfinders will have the pleasure of hearing Gilbert Cangy speak.

Gilbert was born of missionary parents in the Seychelles Islands. He grew up in Mauritius, with his six brothers and sisters and joined the Merchant Navy as a cadet officer after his high school years. He gave his heart to Jesus while still at sea in December 1975 and came back home to Mauritius where he got involved in his local church as the youth leader. Gilbert followed his childhood sweetheart Rosemay to Australia in 1981, where they were married. They have two children: Joel (25) and Emilie (20).

After graduating from Avondale College in 1987, Gilbert pastored in the state of Victoria for six years before being called to be Youth Director in Sydney in 1993. In 1999, he was appointed as the Director for Youth Ministries for the South Pacific Division. In 2009, he asked for a chance to pastor a local church in Sydney, from where he was called to be the General Conference Youth Director in 2010. Gilbert obtained a Masters in Youth Ministry from La Sierra University in 1997 and is currently working on a Doctoral program.

Gilbert has an interest in all sports, particularly soccer, and loves music. His dream is to see youth take hold of the mission of the church and stand up as a global movement for Jesus to bring hope and meaning to our hopeless world.

One of Gilbert’s favorite Bible verses is found in 1 Timothy 4:12, “And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanors, by love, by faith, by integrity” (The Message).
