Are you trained in first aid? What would you do if somebody you live with is hurt badly and you are the only one at home?

The Queensland Ambulance Service warns that 80% of injuries happen at home and providing assistance while waiting for an ambulance can be crucial.

Murray Excell from QAS says equipping yourself to do basic things can save lives.

First aid courses are run right across Queensland. Read more here to find a course near you or call 13 74 68.

I should quit”.  If this sounds familiar, then join thousands of other Queenslanders and set yourself a quit day.

There are many reasons to quit smoking but it can be difficult habit to break.

Quitline encourages smokers to set themselves a quit day and then follow through - plan ahead and think about how you’re going to manage withdrawal symptoms and situations that prompt you to light up.

Diabetes and your feet

Footprints in the sand

Diabetes is a serious disease that affects a person in a number of ways, but did you know your feet are also at risk?

Taking care of your feet is important if you are diagnosed with diabetes because the condition can affect your blood circulation and even lead to nerve damage.

Eating fresh fruit and vegetables and making healthy lifestyle choices is a good start to managing diabetes.  Regular visits to your doctor and checking your feet is also important.

Podiatrist Kim Edwards tells us a little more about the dangers.
