Happy 2016, everyone!

I'm (freezing) in Berlin at the moment, putting the finishing touches to the files of the new issue of Offscreen and overseeing the print later this week! If all goes well, issue 13 should launch online next week and start shipping the week after! You can already renew your subscription online. Single issue sales will be available with the offical release next week. (Oh and by the way, issue 10 is set to sell out this month too. If you haven't bought a copy yet, this might be your last chance.)

To let you in on a little secret: I'm in Berlin not just for the print of issue 13, but to discuss another potential project with my printer. It's still very much a 'viability study' at this point, and there won't be any big news until at least February or March. You'll hear about it first by staying subscribed to TMD and/or following me on Twitter. ;)

As much as I enjoyed the break over Christmas, I'm glad to see the world 'wake up' again. I'm actually looking forward to getting back into my day-to-day routine. I hope you do too!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

A slim, 'self-healing' case for the iPhone
01

I like phone cases that 'disappear' when you put them on your phone. I've ordered a couple of Peel cases in the past, and they really are the thinnest case I've come across to date. Sadly, mine only lasted around 3–4 months. The TENC case looks like a worthwhile alternative. It comes with a 'self-healing' coating – whatever that means. (In all fairness, the Peel folks have recently updated the case and promise better durability.)

A(nother) mail client trying to 'solve' email
02

I've been using Gmail in my browser for at least the last six years or so. But there still seems to be an unquenchable thirst for new native mail clients. Polymail is yet another option (releasing its first beta soon). Leave your email address on the site to be notified.

A do-not-disturb button
03

I'm sure you've heard of the many apps that lock you out of the internet (or at least social media) making you focus on the task at hand. Well, now there is a physical button for that. Press the Saent button and a pre-defined list of sites and apps is no longer available to you. Yes, it's come to that. (Funded on Indiegogo, currently waiting for delivery, I assume.)

A sales tool for digital products
04

Over the holiday break I helped a friend set up a simple page for selling his ebooks. During my research I came across SendOwl and was really impressed with its ease of use and its feature set. One thing that makes SendOwl different is that it operates on a set monthly fee (instead of taking a cut on each sale) which may work in your favour depending on what and how much you're selling.

A guide to living a creative life
05

In three separate places I've come across (raving) reviews of the book 'Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear' last week. I've already linked to a really interesting interview with the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, on my blog. Added to my wishlist.

An app to help you build habits
06

I'm hesitant to embrace apps that promise to help you build habits, because one habit I'm trying to break is to immedately reach for my phone for the simplest of tasks. Having said that, I've been strugglig for way too long to make my back exercises a regular routine. So I've given in and decided to try Way of Life in order to keep track of my exercise sessions and make them a daily thing.
