Deadline Tomorrow for Obesity Training!

Application Deadline: Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015

Training Dates: Feb. 21 – 25, 2016

Apply Here

Obesity is a weighty issue: A third of U.S. adults are obese, as are 17 percent of children. Obesity causes serious chronic health problems, from diabetes to high blood pressure to cancer. The health cost tops $200 billion and diminished productivity costs another $4 billion.

In a five-day training program in Phoenix, National Press Foundation fellows will learn about the newest research on obesity. The sessions will cover health; nutrition; exercise and metabolism; prevention and treatment; the economic impact of obesity; and strategies for making sense of food-of-the-day studies. NPF will share data that fellows can localize and will send everybody home with a solid list of new sources and resources.

The all-expenses-paid fellowship covers airfare, ground transportation, hotel costs and most meals. NPF offers this professional development opportunity for U.S. journalists to enhance skills, increase knowledge and recharge their reporting.
Apply.

Funding for this training was provided by Mayo Clinic.
