An update from 2 Fold Studio No images? Click here Pink.Do you ever think about how color makes you feel? As a designer who works with color on a daily basis, I think about it all the time, especially in connection with my clients and their brands. But I rarely ask (or answer) that same question from a personal standpoint: How does color make me feel? Color is subjective. It can calm our fears, inspire us to take action, or spark happy memories. But it also has the power to overwhelm us with emotions. So, what happens when a particular color gives us a gut-wrenching sense of uncertainty…can we work through it? Recently, I walked into a doctor’s office for a biopsy, and all I saw was…pink. An enormous pink ribbon towered over my head. Rack cards, posters, and fact sheets covered with pink graphics surrounded me. All of them seemed to scream, “You have breast cancer!” In all honesty, I’ve never been a huge fan of pink (purple is more my style). I know that “breast cancer pink” stands for awareness and solidarity…but in that moment, it reminded me of everything I didn’t want to think about. The bad news arrived a day later: my biopsy was positive for breast cancer. So, now I’m navigating something new and scary. Unlike the color pink, I'm a fan of challenges…but this one is pretty daunting. I don’t really know what I’m doing, which isn’t a fun feeling. But here’s what I do know:
The good news? I’ve gathered a trusted group of freelancers to ensure your projects will stay on schedule throughout my appointments and treatments. We’ve got you covered. All I ask in return is that you offer me a bit of extra patience and understanding as I navigate this health journey. I’ll keep you informed of anything that might interrupt our regular work flow. Some projects may take a little more time than usual, but please keep them coming! I’ve got bills to pay, kids to feed, and an active brain that needs occupying. If you’re curious to know more about my cancer diagnosis and treatment plan, I’ve created a Q&A page on my website. Of course, feel free to reach out to me directly if you have specific questions. Big thanks to you all for being so wonderful! I appreciate your support as I tackle this new challenge, and I look forward to continuing our work together…even if pink happens to be your favorite color. With gratitude, Logos & Branding |
