Reach Out Pro - News from the sector

13 March 2012

Can you believe it's already March? Looking back, it's amazing how much has been done when it feels like we just started the year. This month, we're excited to launch an overhaul of the the therapeutic tool reviews available on ReachOut Pro - where we've broadened the scope to include non-CBT tools that can be used by any professional working with young people. Find out more below.

As a learning and development network, we regularly engage expert professionals to speak or write useful content to share with you, such as the recent article 'To e-treat, or not to treat?'. However, just as important are the opinions, experience and advice of practitioners on the ground who are working directly with young people - who have direct practice knowledge of what works and doesn't work with young people. Whether you're a psychologist, youth worker, social worker or other health professional, we encourage you to share your perspectives via the comments boxes included below articles and reviews.

Young people + professionals review online programs

To help health professionals work with young people on their mental health, we've asked members of the ReachOut Pro network to review online tools and programs that can be used in your practice.

The reviews provide personal impressions and advice from young people, and practical tips and guidance for when and how to use these tools in your practice.

Share your experience or advice by leaving comments on the review pages, or express your interest in reviewing tools for the site now.

Mental health information + resources for young people

One of the key barriers to help-seeking is a lack of knowledge about mental health and mental health disorders. For many, even understanding the mental health system or where to get appropriate support is a mystery.

ReachOut.com provides a comprehensive online resource for young people to browse fact sheets, stories from other young people, and online discussions about mental health. These help build their mental health literacy and their confidence to be proactive about their mental health.
